A for JB

Boy, am I struggling.
There is an icepack wrapped in a teatowel under my laptop to prevent it from overheating.
Pro poverty tips to overcoming your lagbeast of a laptop that frequently overheats.

Last night I came up witha drawing challenge for myself.
I've forgotten so much of how to draw and what my style is about that I've realised I need to start from the beginning again. The first time I really wanted to push myself and get better at drawing was when I was in either Year 9 or 10, when I would frequent a Teen Titans oekaki. I drew the most basic, boring pictures. Looking back I can say that, but at the time, man I was so proud of the shit I popped out. I would only draw one style repeatedly; just lines and basic colouring all in oekaki pixel.
I doubt I can produce that basic level of oekaki drawing now, because I can see the flaws as I draw, unlike when I was starting out like then.
So. my drawing task is to develop the Batucada which I started in 2010 and get it polished. Also to develop an anthro character. If the Batucada gets released to SBP (if it comes back) I feel like it would need some support by introducing a Batucada NPC. So far the story I'm giving this NPC might result in two NPCs being developed, but I need to take this on one step at a time.
Work on the Batucada, work on the NPC, and then maybe the second.

I want my groove back. My art mojo. I definitely have the mojo this time, but the groove is missing.

気になるあの娘

Today is ridiculously hot in Ballarat. I wanted to get some work done today but there have been complications, and this hellish heat.

I found an artist on deviantart... this morning? Last night? I can't even recall when.
His name is Andrew Ryan and he is extremely talented. He is doing just the things I hope to be doing!
He's only 25 and soso talented. Bursting at the seams with talent! Ah, it was a reminder of how far I have to go. I wanted to get a lot of work done today.
I'd seen his works before posted on Facebook, a few from the Dragon Effect series of illustrations he did were posted I think on the Mass Effect page. Creative and amazing, reeeally adore his work.

Because of the heat my laptop has been overheating, thus making it a pretty undesirable way to get drawings down. I needed to get pencil drawings done today, but then life happened. Fuck.

Hey, finally, a FENWIF.
and that's all I did today. woo.
now I'm going to sketch watermelons. I was standing in the "fresh" produce area of coles today, eyeing watermelons.
I was like.
I.... must draw you-- um, some. I must draw some.

Candlekeep

^Working on my tiefling character. I can't get him to look how I want him to.
Does his outfit looks a bit familiar? I stole the shape from Thane Krios.

The comic book store dt stocked a Thane action figure. I want to buy it, but the one they got in stock is kind of faulty. Hnngflhfhf.

Locked Inside

Happy New Year!

I absolutely have to post here this year. Last year was a piss poor effort.
This feels like deja vu, but I promise myself to post a minimum of 200 DDs this year.
For 2013 I am going to be working on Venus, Three Wheels projects, BHAD Games stuff (if they get back to me orz), anatomy anatomy ANATOMY, traditionals and of course, DAILY DOODLES.

Since finishing my diploma I've been considering going back to an arts course instead of following through to advanced diploma. I'm not sure what I want to do, but for the moment, in my undecided state, I will be doing the safe thing and sticking to advanced diploma of multimedia. Although this year I really want to see if I can attend some life drawing sessions downtown - once I get a job this is definitely something I hope to do.

Kicking off the new year with some pictures, wow.

Touching up something old: [Loyal to the original] [Fixing dat face]
[3W work]

Here's to a year full of arts progress (hopefullyhnngggggT__T)

A Journey to Freedom

Listening to this album makes me want to make a platform-jumping game with a rabbit-girl character.
Mediocre gameplay but tries to tie in storyline to the gameplay.

Yeeeah. If I could code my own games and get permission to use De De Mouse's music, I'd work on it in a heartbeat.

* * *

Not a lot of drawings done lately. :(
Should have taken my sketchbook to Japan. Every time I go there I'm just so... recharged!
It was strange to hold my tablet pen again.

M4 (Part II)

So long since I last posted. :(
I'm ashamed at how I can even keep promises I make to myself.

Welp! My interview process went well.
I freaked out and quit towards the end, because I was anxious about my drawings sucking, and the usual pattern of freaking out. I didn't get all my drawings done, but they were happy with what parts of the task I had completed.

Over the past month I've found a bit of clarity in what path I want to pursue in the gaming industry:

Character Design

I've always loved character design. Studying them, and picking apart the designs with my eyes.
I would love to be able to pursue this professionally. I feel kinda shit saying that, because I have such a long way to go. I'm not even being modest in saying that. I love everything about video game character design.
I've been looking into courses and I can't seem to find one that suits what I'm looking for. I want to get on the illustration side of it, but all the courses I can find are aimed towards 3D characters. I'll have to think about what path I want to take, or look at online courses... I know I'll get lazy if I'm not in a class room learning enviroment though. Hmm.

Character design articles I ate up recently:
AC3 Connor
ME2 Thane Krios

Over the past month I've become really obsessed with Mass Effect. It's just... so good. I didn't think I liked galactic sci-fi much, as I'm not a hugh Star Wars or Trek fan, but this series... is fantastic. My adoration for this series might be coming from my love for Bioware games in general, but...
idk.

I really need ME3. ;;;

Also, from today I think I'll try watermarking or signing pics from now on.
The Jaqen H'ghar semi-realism portrait I did a few months ago was posted to his fanpage on facebook.
When I saw it I was of course really flattered, but kind of concerned how they found it.
The poster at least credited me as "chimyra", which is actually a bit alarming because I didn't post that picture to the chimyra dA account.

It wasn't art theft and I was happy that they did mention me as the artist in the post, but still, it was a bit of a freaky moment. Seeing someone post my thing made me feel like it wasn't mine anymore.
