Power

Experimenting with an old style I developed when I had sketchbook pro - I don't even remember the proper name of the program. I can't find it :( it was free though, and pretty gewd.

I want to try harder with my 3D shit. I've got another animation assignment coming up and it's got me worried.
I finally gave Sculptris a go. I made an Arishok head.
Arishok Bust | But it doesn't look like him

:(

I really like this program but my laptop can't run it smoothly. I was talking to a techy friend about my laptop and what I could do to speed it up (I barely understand how a computer works) and we discovered I have one of the lowest ranked drivers available on the market. It's incredibly shit, but it's efficient enough and is used in laptops to lower the price... fair enough. I did buy this on special. hnng.

So, even though I can't run it very well, I want to use Sculpris! Very much. I've been watching "tutorial" vids on yt, and mang, some people have really done exceptional things with this program. For me the most impressive thing about this program is that it's open source. Fuck yes!

Anyway.
Heh.

Not much else besides the 3D thing lately.

This damn song. I've been meaning to put a doodle to it for a while.
I also want to draw something to Iron by Woodkid, but I think I've over exposed my ears to the song now. It doesn't make me jive like it did when I first heard it.

Revelations

Some days
do you ever feel like dropping everyithing and saying,

"fuck this"

and quit?

I feel like that all the time.

Yeah, I'm gonna go far in life.

Sayonara Rolling Star

This week is the last week of term 2. How time flies!
For the past month and a half I just haven't been working on my assignments. My enthusiasm went on strike and my willpower doesn't have a back bone to stand up to my lazy side.
Thus, last week and this week are complete hell for me. I've got overdue assignments I'm working through getting submitted and I'm nearly done with them all.

For my DESIGN GAMES class we've got a group assessment to design game bosses and enemies.
Our group is aiming for a distinction so we're really trying to tick all the boxes with ours'.
Bosses:
Cerberus busts | Cerberus | Cerberus alt | Hades busts | Hades WIP | Zet | Helga (Hresvelgr)

When the holidays are over though, I'll be working on Venus! Last Friday I sat down and recorded her voice bank. It's a really simple thing to do but it just takes ssooo rooonng.

By the end of July I want her debut song made with a PV and uploaded to YouTube!
But I still can't decide what her debut song could be. Decisions. NGH!

Edit: Wow. I love this guy's style and character illustrations.

Kaja Kaja Goo

POLYSICS + wanting to do something colourful = ^

This was really rushed, but I've proven to myself I can still do weird cartoony quick doodles.

Labyrinth of the Moonlight

Jaqen H'ghar! Reference pic.
Realisms is something I've always wanted to work on, but I'm usually too shy to try. I don't know why.
I really struggled with getting Tom's eye right.

I started this at around 8pm, and only just finished. How retarded is that.

Trish

Finarry! A Trish with a face I'm happy with!
I've always struggled with getting it right. I want to portray her personality through her icy stare and devilish smirk.

Anyhooooo.
On a random whim today I decided to google if there are any local life drawing classes around.
As it turns out, there is! At the Art Gallery of Ballarat~
I want to sign myself up. Using photo references just doesn't compare to having a live model to work from, I've found. When I did fine arts, my life drawing class was my favorite. Also because my teacher was great.

Yesterday I got a portait-ish thing done.

whips: the sketch | the pretty much finished

My classmate asked me to draw him as an Assassin. I thought he was joking until he followed up on it a couple times. So there it is! My friend Josh, garbed out in Mentor Ezio robes.
Because Revelations Ezio is my favorite outfit. 8Db yesm.

I don't know how I feel about how it turned out. I'm still on a crusade to use more colour in my works. Even today's DD I tried using colour, but I ended up changing it and reeling in the range. The original background for it was explosive red and yellows - it was weird to look at. Ho hum.

Mage Pride

I only had an hour and a half to make sure I had a doodle uploaded today. I feel like I should have more to show than just this scribbly Fenris.
I think I spent half the time just getting the sketch done, then rushing the colours and everything else. Picking colours is difficult for me! I remember I used to slap around anything and be happy with what I'd do, but now I feel like I have to keep ajusting the colours until they feel "right". Bother bother!
I wanted the DD today to be mega colourful. Maybe if I had more time to plan this Fenris colouring I could have done something better?

Since my last post I've done some small doodles and a few effort-y ones.

I started a group on facebook for drawing challenges, sort of like the oekaki competitions.
Every week I'll set a theme and people choose whichever medium to create and produce something in relation to the theme. The first week was kind of a success! I was really happy that people posted~ I was worried they'd be a bit shy about it, or think it was dumb.

For the first week I set the theme as ANTLERS.
This was a challenge for me, as it should be, because I don't think I've ever drawn deer or proper antlers before. I did some study sketches and then one effort drawing.
Study1 | Study 2 | Hunting for Witches

Antlers are tough! I think I ended up with something moose-like in the end.
This pic was also some practice with two source lighting.

This week's challenge is Cyan, Magenta and Yellow.
I want to make an animation of colours blending and recreate an old oekaki.
I need to upload the test animation I did with primary colours, but here is a fail doodle I did for the recreation:
Doink
I wanted to redraw an old oekaki where I used these colours to draw Leopold.

And now for some TAFE shit.
Anoobis! | ANOOBIS WITH CULUR!
For an assignment where we design game bosses. Our game is about a phoenix who seeks out other phoenixes (phoenixi?) in mythological, underworld-ish places.

Lately I've been thinking more and more about character design, which started before we got this bosses assignment. I've always liked character designs and studying them. Is this a passion in life? I'm not confident with creating designs, but I like recreating them - close enough?
Fenris' design has always interested me. I was thinking about it last night (it was brought on from this weird suprise obsession with Jaqen H'ghar) and today had the itch to test myself if I could draw his face yet.
Started in Paint | Mapping his hair now | Then finishing off in SAI:

Random shout to Mar-ER - her fanarts are AWESOME! The way she uses colour is sick too.
I want to learn from her, but I will resist. xD I want to stubbornly stay true to myself and find my own way of colouring, however she does use techniques I've always wanted to test out! Ahhh, eventually.
Maybe when I finally get some vidyas for Venus out.
